Brother Mel's Southern Style BBQ Sauce was developed and perfected from an original recipe by Melvin and Helen Johnson, natives of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Our Sauce is crafted from quality ingredients and is ALL - NATURAL. Brother Mel’s Southern Style BBQ Sauce is gluten-free, fat-free and does not contain any additives or high fructose corn syrup.

Humble Beginnings
The sauce had humble beginnings at a group home on Remington Street in Fort Collins, CO. My parents, Melvin and Helen Johnson ran the group home for individuals recovering from substance abuse. It was here that Melvin was lovingly referred to as Brother Mel as he was also the pastor of All-Nations Church.
Brother Mel obtained a smoker and started smoking meats for the group home residents. He made his own sauce and the residents loved it. People in the neighborhood smelled the delicious aroma of smoked meats and came over to grab some of Brother Mel’s BBQ.
The couple opened Brother Mel’s Southern Style BBQ Restaurant about 2 years after perfecting the recipe at the group home.

My name is Adrienne, Brother Mel’s oldest daughter. My vision is to continue my father's legacy by bottling the secret family recipe of Brother Mel’s Southern Style BBQ Sauce and making it available to the public once again. I took a business starter class at Mi Casa Resource Center and an Entrepreneur class at the Community College of Aurora.
I wanted to make Dad’s tasty, bold, sauce available to an already present fanbase as well as introduce the sauce to many more people. The goal is to make this family business opportunity available for generations to come. I am proud to carry on the tradition of goodness you can taste with Brother Mel’s (All-Natural) Southern Style BBQ Sauce!

A Family Affair
We love and appreciate family at Brother Mel’s Southern Style BBQ Sauce! There are 4 of us siblings. I am the oldest, then we have David, Charity, and Amber. My sisters and I live in Denver CO. My brother lives in Texas. My sisters have been very instrumental in helping me by being present and available at Farmers Markets, having family meetings, and helping with social media.
I have three children and they also help with farmers' markets and sales. My daughter, my youngest child, has been by my side helping set up tents, tables, and everything needed at Farmers Markets, craft fairs, and wherever I have requested her presence. She is still in High school and is a great saleswoman and partner.

Charitable Contributions
Brother Mel’s Southern Style BBQ Sauce donates a portion of the proceeds to the Veteran’s organization, Soldiers Angels.
Brother Mel is still currently the Pastor of All Nations Church in Fort Collins, CO and he is a US Military Veteran, - he served in the Vietnam War. Soldiers Angel fits the caring for community and inclusive character of Brother Mel’s BBQ Sauce because the organization helps all military personnel and the families of soldiers whether they are active duty, reserves, or veterans.
Together, my father and I chose to support this organization and its mission to care for those who protect and serve us.
